Yes, sunglasses look cool, especially if they are foster grant sunglasses; but if you purchase the correct sunglasses, they will also protect your eyes from aging early and other diseases like cataracts, macular degeneration. If you have ever been boating, skiing or fishing, you know the value of sunglasses around the water. I used to ski and fish; no, not at the same time. Although, I suppose we could have! Anyhow, the glare off of the water almost blinded me and made my eyes water so badly they hurt. Polarized sunglasses are the best choice for the bright glare of the sun on the water.
