Concerns over poor water quality in urban areas have created a steady boom in the water purification equipment industry. These companies attended the Gourmet Products Show in May, 2008, for the first time, and revealed new product lines. Thirsty Work water coolers introduced brightly colored thirsty work water coolers for its filtration line in half-gallon and gallon sizes. Pur displayed its Crypto guard faucet-mounted water cooler which guarantees filtration of 100% of cryptosporidium and giardia bacteria. Teledyne displayed its biodegradable water cooler made from wood pulp and carbon. Sterling Spring and Back to Nature were also in attendance.
